Sheff Utd 1-1 Liverpool

OMG !!! we were too busy watching Sheff utd in the first half, never really got going.
2nd half:Just a couple of minutes in and we were beaten by bad defending AGAIN !!!,just how much more space do we want to give teams in the 16 yard box ?.
In the teams defence they did pick it up from there and started to push Utd back into their own half a lot more but then suddenly Gerrard splits their defence.................and goes down in the box PENALTY !!!,Fowler steps up and sinks it.
I must admit i didn't think it was a penalty,we got lucky.

Verdict :Sheff Utd were robbed of 3 points

Lucas Lobos
Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool are monitoring the progress of Cadiz midfielder Lucas Lobos.

The skilful Argentine only joined the Spanish outfit during last season's January transfer window, but made a huge impression following his move from Gimnasia La Plata.

Although he could not ultimately help save Cadiz from the drop, he managed seven goals in 14 appearances for the Andalusian club and was widely hailed as the star of the second half of the Spanish season.

Cadiz have insisted they will fight tooth and nail to keep the free-scoring 25-year-old despite their relegation to La Segunda and have thus far been successful.

However, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is now understood to have trained his sights on the South American and sent a scout to watch him in action last weekend as Cadiz took part in the Carranza Trophy along with Real Betis and Villarreal.

He is likely to have received very favourable reports as Cadiz won the pre-season tournament with Lobos the undoubted star of the show.

The Spaniards have already slapped a £10 million price-tag on the player's head, but Lobos himself has described the prospect of a move to Anfield as a "dream".

"My present is Cadiz and I don't have any news about Liverpool, although it would be a big dream for me," he stated.

Benitez is likely to keep a keen eye on the talented playmaker for the first half of the season, but if he continues to impress could well consider firming up his interest in the January transfer window.

well Rafa likes to rotate so no need for a total droppin gof anyone. Could signal end for Luis Garcia though i'd think. (the guy infuriates me at times)

We've not been that bad at znoal marking the last 2 years have we?

It would appear that Real Madrid want to loan out Jonathon Woodgate to help get his career going - Rafa is in for him and is confident Champs League footy will see him at Anfield

Now if Woody can stay fit I am loving this move

Reports on Friday suggested Liverpool were lining up a loan move for the former Leeds and Newcastle defender.

Real are thought to be willing to listen to offers for Woodgate as he does not figure in Fabio Capello's long-term plans.

Speculation had suggested that Benitez may move for Woodgate after Jamie Carragher, Gabriel Paletta, John Arne Riise and Stephen Warnock all picked up knocks

"We are not talking with Woodgate," said Benitez. "It is a rumour and the first I heard of it was in the newspapers. There is no interest in this player.

Watched the game live (well in the pub)

Played quite well all in all, thought we deserved the win (after 80 something minutes they;d only had one shot on target and that was the mis hit cross that went in)

Kuyt came on in the 50th minute - looked fecking awesome. Wasnt afraid to shoot, good movement off the ball, was happy to tell / point where he wanted the ball played, good touches and flicks but was happy to play the simple, and easy, pass when necessary. also didnt mind putting his foot in and working back to win the ball

On the basis of that 40 minutes, sod what people said about his world cup, £10 mill looks superb business (esp when you consider he scored something like 71 goals in 100 appearances in holland)

Should Rafa stick by Pepe after his poor start to the season?

I do think backing someone is the way to go, sometimes though I do wonder if just saying "look son take a break get out of the public eye for a game or two then come back at your best" isnt the way to go

Any thoughts?

I agree, backing is the way to go but it seems in recent years Liverpool have been guilty of not backing several keepers.
